My Music Reflections 2010

Today i was told about the assessment and thing'd we're going to do in this semester. We're also given worksheet on major scales,I then fill it up and finished it. In this term i'm going to learn more about popular musics, of course in I will learn by listening in class.
At the practical lesson I play some of the major scales, unfortunately I still have some errors on F major. Therefore I need to practice more, specially on F major.

Today was the day where i'm supposed to have a lyric for my assessment. I have not get one. Today Mr. Harry also showed us a video of "Heal The World", finished watching the video we were asked to sing it.

Today I started to practice for my assessment, where I need to sing. When I was performing I felt so nervous.
My voice was so small due to my nervousness. There was no practical lesson today, because we used the whole session to practice one buy one

Today the assessment continued, one by one students are singing. I also sang, unfortunately, as usual I was nervous. Today there are no practical class because of the assessment. Some of them sang really well but some of the doesn't.

Today the assessment once again continued. Today students are singing well compared to last week's students. I enjoy listening to some of the songs such as "smile". Once again there are no practical lesson due to the assessment which took to long of a time.

Today we went to the computer lab since most of the student had not made their blog, I hate today because I can't open my blog. In the theory class I played contrary majors which I have some problem with, therefore i'm going to practice more for next session

Today the singing assessment once more continued, the singers are Kevin, Shella, Stefan and Valerie. Some sand beautifully but some don't which causes them to fail. I was asked to continue on my investigation project, where i must make a power point presentation regarding classical v.s pop music.

Today was the day where we presented our power point presentation. Our presentation didn't go so well, because we're given such a short time to complete it. So Mr.Herry gave us another chance on Monday to redo the presentation. So i'm going to improve the presentation by having our palm cards.

Today we redo the power point presentation. One of the group we're not ready. So the next group present their power point. We don't have enough time for it so we move on theory class. In the theory class I played Sonata in G by Beethoven. My tempo was unstable so I need to improved my tempo by practicing more.

Today my group performed a power point presentation about "classical vs. pop". Mr. Herry said our group did well in this presentation.Two other gorup also performed a power point presentation. I'm happy because I got a perfect score for my presentation. As for the theory class I change the song I played into "The Entertainer" which is easier to play.

Today we started to study the chord inversion.It;s quiet complicated. And I also played "the entertainer" i did well, all I need to improve is my pedal.

Today we review on the chord inversion, now I understand more. I also perform "the entertainer" in piano for my assessment r rehearsal.

Today was the practical assessment. I play the song I was assigned, which was a song by Scott J. I did well, so did the other students. Saxophone, not so well

Today Derrick perform his practical assessment, since he was absent last week. He did okay, it was his first practical assessment. After that Mr.Herry told our assessment scores which is satisfying. Then we discuss on the coming assessment.

Today we revised in chord inversion, we were given some works sheet, it takes sometime to finish it. I'll study more so i'll finish it faster.

Today since lot's of student were absent we were given a quiz on notation instead of the assessment. I did some minor mistakes which turns major. In the practical lesson I played the chord inversion which need to be practiced.

Today, the first assessment of the term start. It was the theory assessment which is about chord inversion. Sadly i don't know much about the minor scales. I think overall i did well.

Today, was the singing assessment, I did okay..... i sang an Indonesian song "Indonesia Pusaka". It was a once song. Once again my problem was my voice, which is not loud enough.

Today another singing assessment takes place. This time it's western song. We can choose "somewhere out there" or "You've Got a Friend". I choose to sing " Somewhere Out There" a song from the movie"An American Tale" it's a very nice song. I practice this song for the whole night. An improvement was made, at last!

Today Sabrina and Aldo perform their Western Song, "somewhere out there". They were absent last week, so they preform it today. Then Mr. Herry gave us an example of a composition. After that Mr.Herry told us to compose our own composition.

Today, Mr. Herry teaches us how to compose a song in a different form. Then, using the given format we composed a song. It's not bad, it;s actually good.

Today our composition was checked, it seems that i made some minor mistakes. So i need to fix those minor mistakes. After Mr. Herry checked our composition , he played some of good compositions that was composed by my classmates on the keyboard. Finish with the checking, Mr. herry told us to put it in Finale.

Today i submit my homework, which was to put my composition in Finale. Then Mr. Herry shows us how to use the finale software. I was confused, on using the software since i haven't use this software for years. Meanwhile, during the instrument class i practice my composition.

Today Mr. Herry teaches us how to expand a four bar line into an 8 bar line. At first i was confused, but then as i take look at it. I began to understand. Mr. Herry gave us a homework which was to convert my composition into this form. This is so complicated.

Mr. Herry check our homework, then we wee told to make the lyric for my composition. Thank God we don;t have to sing along the lyric. We don't have time for instrument class. Well, it was due to the short time for instrument class.

Today we were ask to copy down the composition we made into another paper that was provided by M. Herry. I was given about 20 minutes to finish t, unfortunately i was unable to finish the lyrics. Meanwhile in the instrument class, i found out that my composition has the wrong format.

Today Mr.Herry start the class by trying to motivate us, unfortunately it's not motivating. He's not satisfied with the responds we gave him. Then he start to check our homeworks. Since i compose a new composition, i need to copy down the new composition on the paper provided Mr.Herry

Today Mr.Herry take a look on our compositions, after he showed the composition he give us some suggestions to fix our composition. As for me, i was asked to fix my lyric.

Today Mr.Herry left us for a workshop. Substituting him is Mr.John. Mr. John asked us the practice our composition in front of the class. he give us some feedback and help, especially to those who cam't read notes. I think i need to practice more, since i haven't practice that much. I'm sure i'll improve

Mr. Herry told the students of guitar and violin to perform/practice their composition in front everyone. Some of them were able to play their composition fluently, and some of them still have some trouble in reading their composition. I was shocked to hear that the video upload worth 50% of the score.

Today is extremely boring, especially for the piano students. All we do was to watch other students practicing their composition. Listening to the guitar, saxophone, violin, it's just so boring. I hope, woth the time given by Mr.Herry they'll improve.

Today is another practice session. I'm really glad that some of them manage to make quite an improvement. So far so good, the practice session is going well. As for me, i still make some mistake. i believe by practicing more, i would improve until i reach my satisfaction.

Today as it gets closer to our practical assessment, the practice session continues, It took almost two sessions for the guitar students and the saxophone students to practice, It is so boring, i can;t help myself to have a chat with my friends. Sadly some of them didn't make any improvement at all. Can't this gets worse. At least next session would be the assessment, so no more worries. I'll just practice more and memorize the song.
